EL CAJON, Calif. (KGTV) - A pedestrian died Thursday morning after he was struck by a bus on an El Cajon street.
The collision happened at around 5:20 a.m. in the 1300 block of Madison Avenue, near 2nd Street, according to El Cajon police.
The victim, identified only as a man in his 50s, was taken to an area hospital but died from his injuries, police told 10News.
Passengers on the MTS bus were transferred to other buses.
Police said: “After a preliminary investigation of the scene, the taking of witness statements and review of video, it appears the male subject was traveling southbound from the north sidewalk of East Madison when he stepped from between two parked cars and into the path of the oncoming bus. The driver stopped the bus and is being fully cooperative with investigating officers.”
The incident caused traffic from 2nd Street to be diverted.
