VALLEY CENTER, Calif. (KGTV) - A homicide investigation is underway after a man broke into a Valley Center-area home Thursday morning and fatally assaulted a man inside.
The incident happened at around 5 a.m. in the 15400 block of Villa Sierra Road, according to sheriff's officials.
Details on what led to the incident remain unclear, but Lt. Nelson confirmed a man suffered "trauma to [his] upper body," while other occupants were also inside the home.
The victim was declared dead at the scene.
A description of the suspected attacker was not immediately provided, but sheriff's officials believe he may be an acquaintance of the people who live in the home and are trying to contact a person of interest.
