Man shot, killed at Palm City motel

NEAR IMPERIAL BEACH, Calif. – A 27-year-old man was shot and killed early Tuesday at a hotel in the Palm City neighborhood.
  
Officers were sent to the E-Z 8 Motel on Outer Road near Hollister Street around 1:20 a.m.. according to San Diego police. They found the victim suffering from at least one bullet wound to his upper body, SDPD homicide Lt. Ray Valentin said. Witnesses reported seeing several people fleeing the scene. 
  
The gravely wounded man was rushed to a hospital, but died shortly afterward, according to the lieutenant. His name was withheld pending family notification.
  
A detailed description of the gunman was not immediately available, but Valentin said he was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and gray sweatpants. He was last seen running from the area.
