SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A pedestrian struck by a car in Oak Park Wednesday morning died from his injuries, according to police.
Shortly before 4 a.m., a car was traveling southbound on 54th Street near Grape Street when it hit a man who was wrapped in a blanket and walking on the side of the roadway, San Diego police said.
Emergency crews treated the unidentified man at the scene before rushing him to the hospital, where he died from his injuries.
Police told 10News another car swerved to avoid hitting the man, but the vehicle behind it could not move away in time.
The driver, who was on her way to work, stopped about a block away and then ran back to look for the pedestrian.
She remained at the scene and spoke to police about the incident.
