One man is dead, after a fatal accident on South Santa Fe Avenue in Vista Friday night.
Police say the 38-year-old man was jaywalking with a friend across all four of the north and southbound lanes in the 1500 block of South Santa Fe Avenue when he was hit by the vehicle around 7:45 p.m.
He was killed instantly, according to fire personnel on scene.
The other adult male went to a nearby business to call 911, then fled the scene.
The 31-year-old driver of the vehicle that hit the deceased remained on scene and cooperated with police. DUI was not suspected. He was uninjured, interviewed at the scene and released. At this time no charges are pending on the driver.
The collision remains under investigation. The victim's identity has not immediately been released, pending notification of family members.
