ESCONDIDO, Calif. – A man is expected to survive after he was chased down and shot on an Escondido street late Tuesday night.
At approximately 11 p.m., the victim was wounded while reportedly trying to run from the gunman in the area of West 7th Avenue and South Quince Street, according to Escondido police.
The victim collapsed in an alley and was taken by ambulance to Palomar Medical Center, where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries, police said.
Arriving officers found a half-block riddled with shell casings. At least two parked cars were damaged with bullet holes and shattered windows.
The exact number of suspects being sought in connection with the shooting and the circumstances that precipitated it were not confirmed. It was not immediately clear if the incident was gang related.
