SAN DIEGO – A man was arrested after a suspicious fire broke out at a vacant City Heights house Friday morning, the second such fire at the house within the last week.
According to a Metro Arson Strike Team official at the scene, at around 2:30 a.m., San Diego Fire-Rescue crews were called to the home located at 4814 Auburn Dr. after a neighbor noticed it was on fire.
Firefighters arrived to find the front left window and part of the front door had caught fire. After knocking it down quickly, firefighters searched the home and found a man asleep in a bed in a back room. He was arrested on outstanding warrants, the MAST official said. His name was not disclosed.
The cause of the fire was considered suspicious. Meanwhile, according to MAST this was the second fire reported at the home in the last few days. The home has been boarded up and vacant.
The exact circumstances of the fire and a financial estimate of the damage sustained to the home were not immediately confirmed.
