(KGTV) -- A man from Louisiana died after proposing to his girlfriend underwater during a vacation to Tanzania, CNN reports.
Steven Weber and Kenesha Antoine were staying in a wooden cabin with a bedroom submerged beneath the surface of the water off the east coast of Africa when the incident occurred.
According to CNN, Weber proposed Thursday by swimming underwater, holding a handwritten note against one of the bedrooms windows.
"I can't hold my breath long enough to tell you everything I love about you. BUT...Everything I love about you I love more EVERY DAY,” the note read in part.
Weber then failed to return to the surface, Antoine wrote in a post on Facebook.
"You never emerged from those depths, so you never got to hear my answer, 'Yes! Yes! A million times, yes, I will marry you!!' " she wrote.
The resort the couple was staying in confirmed the death in a statement Saturday.
