LAKESIDE (CNS) - A 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of stealing a vehicle and burglarizing another in Lakeside, authorities said Saturday.
He and another man, who is still outstanding, were reported as suspicious at 5:26 a.m. Friday at 12025 Riverside Dr., according to Sgt. Josh Stone of the San Diego Sheriff's Department.
The reporting party approached the two men who told that person they were trying to tow a gray Nissan Sentra. The suspects left before deputies arrived.
About seven hours later, deputies were dispatched to that same location for a report of a vehicle burglary in which a subwoofer and amp were stolen from a car, Stone said.
The reporting party of the burglary believed the suspects were the same two men who were seen at that location earlier that morning and as deputies were investigating, they saw a gray Nissan Sentra drive by, matching the vehicle description from earlier, Stone said.
Deputies attempted to catch up to the Nissan and later found it abandoned. They learned two men fled from the scene on foot, one of them described as wearing a white shirt, green pants and black boots, Stone said.
Deputies confirmed that the Nissan was stolen, Stone added.
Around 4:50 p.m. Friday, deputies responded to the area of Lakeview Avenue and Towns Terrace for a prowler call involving a suspect matching the description of the suspect seen fleeing the stolen car.
The man, identified as Roman Sandoval, was found and arrested on suspicion of vehicle burglary, Stone said.
Sandoval was transported by paramedics to Sharp Memorial Hospital where he was medically evaluated and cleared for booking into San Diego Central Jail, Stone said.
