SAN DIEGO - A man was arrested on suspicion of taking cellphone video of a girl in a public restroom, and sheriff's officials believe the suspect has victimized others in a similar manner.

Robert Becker, 21, was arrested Monday after sheriff's officials alleged he followed a 10-year-old girl into a women's restroom at a Walmart store in El Cajon.

According to sheriff's officials, Becker was arrested in connection with an Aug. 17 incident at the Walmart at 13487 Camino Canada. The girl told authorities that Becker followed her into the restroom and got into a stall next her. She claimed he used a cellphone camera to "record her while making lewd comments."

Becker fled the store before sheriff's deputies arrived.

Using surveillance video captured in the store, Becker was identified and arrested at his home on Alpine Boulevard in Alpine. He faces charges of attempted lewd and lascivious acts on a minor, annoying or molesting a child with prior conviction and disorderly lewd conduct. Sheriff's officials said more charges "may be pending."

Becker, a registered sex offender, is being held on $210,000 bail pending arraignment, scheduled for Wednesday afternoon.

Sheriff's officials believe Becker "may have committed similar crimes in the East County," and they are asking possible victims to come forward.
