SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – Authorities arrested a driver on suspicion of DUI following a wrong-way crash on Interstate 5 that sent two people to the hospital early Monday morning.
The crash happened at around 3:30 a.m. on northbound I-5 near Hawthorn Street, in the Cortez Hill area, according to California Highway Patrol officials.
CHP officials said a BMW was traveling south on the northbound lanes and struck at least two other vehicles.
10News learned two drivers were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The driver was eventually arrested after undergoing a DUI evaluation.
The wreck forced the closure of northbound lanes for about 45 minutes.
