SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Some workers at a strip mall are being credited with helping stop a driver suspected of crashing into parked cars on a City Heights street and running away from the scene.

At around 3 a.m., a pickup truck hit at least two parked cars and then flipped over onto its side near the 3800 block of Highland Avenue, San Diego police said.

Workers at a nearby strip mall witnessed the crash and also saw the driver crawling from the wreckage.

As the driver ran across the strip mall parking lot, the workers chased him down and held him until responding police officers arrived.

The driver was arrested and taken to the hospital to be evaluated for a possible DUI.
