SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A woman was rescued from her burning SUV after a two-vehicle crash on a Golden Hill-area street.

Just before 11 p.m. Sunday, witnesses said a red SUV and a black BMW collided at the intersection of B and 27th streets, with the impact sending the BMW into two parked pickup trucks.

The SUV caught fire after the wreck, but the female driver was trapped inside the vehicle.

Several residents who heard and saw the crash rushed to pull the woman out. Some residents used fire extinguishers to try and douse the flames.

Firefighters arrived and were able to completely put out the fire.

The SUV’s driver was taken to the hospital with injuries of unknown severity.

The driver of the BMW was not hurt.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
