SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A woman was taken into custody early Monday morning after a high-speed pursuit on San Diego freeways during which two police cars were damaged.

At around 3 a.m., San Diego police responded to a report of a pickup truck stolen in front of a 7-Eleven store near Fashion Valley Mall. After spotting the truck, officers tried to pull it over, but the driver sped away.

Reaching speeds of up to 85 mph, the truck got onto Interstate 8, transitioned to state Route 163, transferred to I-5, got onto state Route 52 and then onto I-805.

As the truck exited onto Mira Mesa Boulevard, the vehicle ran over spike strips that were deployed by police. Two patrol cars also ran over the strips, damaging tires.

The truck came to a stop in the 8900 block of Mira Mesa Boulevard, and after a brief standoff, the woman exited the truck and surrendered to police.

No injuries were reported in the incident.
