SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Two people were detained Wednesday morning after their truck drove in the wrong direction on Interstate 5 and crashed into a wall outside of a South Bay home.

The incident began just before 7 a.m. when witnesses said a truck was traveling southbound on I-5 towards Mexico through the border checkpoint.

However, the truck -- for reasons under investigation -- turned around, went back through the checkpoint and proceeded north on southbound I-5.

At least one of the truck’s tires was destroyed at the checkpoint, but it continued on until it slammed into a wall outside of a Border Patrol agent’s home on Tocayo Avenue in the Nestor area.

The pair fled from the truck but were quickly captured.

10News learned the two people were detained and taken back to the San Ysidro Port of Entry.
