More than 100 million Americans will be traveling 50 miles or more from home this holiday season, according to AAA. About 6 percent of those travelers--or 6,000,000 people--will be flying to their destinations.

For many, the holidays are one of the few occasions for air travel, so here are tips from the TSA to help reduce the stress factor.

1. Don't pack wrapped gifts. It's not illegal, but TSA agents will sometimes open your presents to check for security threats.

2. Arrive at the airport early. The TSA recommends giving yourself at least two hours: Remember, you may have to park, get your boarding pass, check your luggage, get through security and get to your gate.

3. Dress for success! Keep in mind that TSA requires the removal of shoes, belts, jackets, and coats, so you might want to save the fashion statements for holiday parties.

4. You CAN travel with liquor and wine, but it must be in your checked luggage.

5. You CAN travel with cakes, pies, bread, donuts, turkeys, and other holiday edibles in your carry-on luggage.
