SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A transient was arrested after police said he broke into an Old Town tattoo shop while the owner was asleep inside.

The break-in was reported at around 11:30 p.m. Monday in the 2600 block of Congress Street, according to San Diego police.

Police said a woman called 911 after she received an alert that the alarm was triggered at the family’s tattoo business. She told dispatchers her husband was asleep inside.

10News learned the woman watched on a live surveillance feed as a stranger wearing a green beanie entered the business and made his way around.

Police and the woman got to the shop, with officers calling for the intruder to come out.

The woman’s husband and the intruder eventually exited the business. Officers detained both men at gunpoint and questioned them.

The husband was released, while the intruder was taken to the hospital after officers believed he was under the influence of drugs.
