SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A group of teens on a joyride were taken into custody after police said they led officers on a pursuit in Mira Mesa early Monday morning.
San Diego police received a report of a 14-year-old girl who left home after stealing her family’s Toyota SUV.
At around 3 a.m., officers spotted the SUV on Camino Ruiz, near Westmore Road, and watched as it ran through several stop signs.
When police tried to pull the SUV over, the driver refused to stop and led officers on a short pursuit for several blocks.
The SUV eventually cornered itself in a cul de sac in the 7900 block of Montongo Circle.
With guns drawn, officers detained five teenagers, including the 14-year-old girl, and took them to a police station.
No injuries were reported.
