SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A driver suspected of being under the influence struck two parked vehicles, a fence and a tree before coming to a stop just feet from the front of a Point Loma home.

A family was inside their home on Worden Street when they heard a crash coming from outside at around 10:45 p.m. Wednesday.

When they went outside, they saw a white, badly damaged SUV in front of their house and a trail of destruction.

The SUV struck a parked vehicle, knocking it about 30 feet across the street, and hit several trees and a fence. The family’s BMW in the driveway was also hit by the driver’s SUV.

The parked BMW prevented the SUV from striking a bedroom and a nativity scene.

One family member told 10News that the driver appeared “out of it” and added, “She said she was drunk. She said, ‘Why do I keep doing that to myself? Why?’”

Paramedics arrived to treat the driver and took her to UC San Diego Medical Center. 10News learned she was going to be evaluated for DUI.

Family members said this was the third time a vehicle crashed into their front yard in the 15 years they’ve lived at the house.
