SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego Police identified the man suspected of opening fire during the robbery of a Midway District 7-Eleven store Tuesday morning.

Steven Gogue Stogsdill, 38, was caught after a chase.

San Diego Police said Stogsdill was wearing a black mask, black hooded sweatshirt, gloves, and black beanie when he entered the convenience store at 3146 Sports Arena Blvd. around 9 a.m. and demanded money. During the robbery, police said Stogsdill fired one gunshot at the female clerk before leaving in a taxi cab.

Once in the cab, Stogsdill threatened the driver with the gun and forced him to leave, police said.

Responding officers spotted the cab and pursued it to an area near Nimitz and Harbor Boulevards. Officers stopped the cab and took Stogsdill into custody. The weapon used in the convenience store was also recovered.

Police told 10News no one was injured by the gunfire; the bullet struck a cabinet behind the store's counter.

The incident is under investigation.
