SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego State University is partnering with the USS Midway Museum for deeper military education.
SDSU will soon be the only public college on the West Coast with a U.S. modern military history area of study.
The USS Midway Museum Foundation pledged $3 million to SDSU’s College of Arts and Letters. The endowment will fuel a five-year agreement between the school and the Museum to allow students to take military history courses.
“SDSU has a proud history supporting and developing our military leaders, from the beginning of their careers through pivotal moments in their military trajectories to their transition into civilian leadership roles,” said SDSU President Adela de la Torre. "This partnership marks another proud and historic chapter for our university as a military partner.”
SDSU says the modern U.S. military history program will focus on virtually every facet of the military imaginable, from World War II to present day.
A national search for the military history chair is now underway and school officials plan to have it filled by the 2020-21 academic year.
