SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A San Diego police officer was injured while making contact with a homeless man in front of an Ocean Beach church Wednesday morning.

At around 12 a.m., officers were called to the Holy Trinity Anglican Parish (2051 Sunset Cliffs Blvd.) in response to a transient sleeping right outside of the church.

When the officer attempted to get the man to leave, the homeless man attacked him. Police said the officer suffered an injury to his nose while trying to subdue the man.

The homeless man was eventually arrested on suspicion of resisting arrest.

The injured officer was taken to the hospital to be evaluated.
