SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A break-in at a Colina Del Sol apartment is being investigated as a dispute over property between a teen and her ex-boyfriend, San Diego police said.

At around 1:45 a.m. Thursday, officers were called to an apartment complex in the 4100 block of 48th Street in response to a burglary report.

When officers arrived, they were told someone wearing a hoodie entered a second-floor unit through a window and went into a teen’s room. The intruder allegedly stole an iPhone and a security camera, and reportedly groped a 16-year-old girl before leaving, police were told.

Upon further investigation, San Diego police told 10News that their investigators learned the person who broke into the apartment -- through an unlocked front door -- is known to the family and believed to be the teen’s former boyfriend.

According to police, they believe the incident occurred due to the couple’s dispute over the phone.
