SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A man was hospitalized with stab wounds to the face and arm after he pulled a knife on another man and accidentally stabbed himself when the potential victim pushed him to the ground at a trolley station in downtown San Diego's East Village neighborhood, police said.
The bizarre incident happened shortly before 10:35 p.m. Monday near 12th and Imperial avenues, San Diego police Officer John Buttle said.
The assailant got into an altercation with another man for unknown reasons at the trolley station and pulled out a knife, but the potential victim pushed the assailant to the ground and the man accidentally stabbed himself in the face and arm, Buttle said.
The man, whose age was not immediately available, was taken to a hospital for treatment of his injuries, which were not believed to be life-threatening, the officer said.
The man was expected to be arrested once medically cleared, Buttle said.
