SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A 17-year-old boy was shot Monday morning in Barrio Logan, San Diego Police confirmed.

The shooting happened about 11:30 a.m. on Sampson Street near Logan Avenue, just east of Interstate 5. A photo from the scene showed crime scene tape near the Salud restaurant.

Police said three people, including the victim, were walking on Sampson Street when a dark-colored sedan pulled up next to them. A man got out and, without speaking, fired several rounds at the group, according to investigators.

The victim was shot in the side and taken to the hospital. He is in serious condition but expected to survive, police said.

The shooter, described only as a Hispanic man in his early 20s, got back in the car and headed north on Sampson Street.

Officers did not release a possible motive for the shooting.
