PINE VALLEY, Calif. (KGTV) - Roads have reopened after a snow storm snarled traffic Thursday morning in the San Diego County mountains.

I-8 was closed at East Willows Road around 9 a.m. as Cal Trans worked to clear snow. It reopened around 11 a.m.

CHP reported more than a dozen cars getting stuck in snow or sliding off the road.

The snow was also cleared from highway 79 and Sunrise highway, however as of Thursday night, CHP said chains were still required for two-wheel drive vehicles.

The chain requirement for Montezuma Valley Road in Borrego has been lifted.

Part of Sunrise Highway north of Mount Laguna to the 79 remained closed Thursday due to snow.

The NWS reported 10” of snow on Palomar Mountain and 8” in Julian.
