NATIONAL CITY, Calif. (KGTV) – Rady Children’s Hospital received a warm show of love in the form of a large donation from one of San Diego’s oldest family operated businesses Thursday afternoon.

Frank Subaru in National City presented Rady with a check in the amount of $64,788 as part of the retailer’s eleventh annual Subaru Share the Love Event.

“Through this event, Frank Subaru had the opportunity to select a charity operating in their community to add to the list of organizations that new Subaru owners could select from to receive the $250 donation from Subaru of America, Inc.,” said Monica Salem, Frank Motors representative.

Donations received by Rady Children’s Hospital go towards funding lifesaving technology and research, providing a safety net for children with little or no private medical insurance, and creating a healing environment for patients and their families, according to Rady’s website.

The Frank Motors Group, owner and operator of Frank Subaru, first began as part of an business expansion that saw Mario Fornaca’s successful San Diego bake shop grow into multifaceted retailer. The Fornaca family opened Frank Lincoln Mercury in 1965. “Today, up to seven family members work on a daily basis at the Frank Motors Group with the same commitment to customer care as Mario Fornaca established 100 years ago,” says the Frank Motors Group website.
