SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A San Diego man who solicited minors for sex was sentenced Monday to 14 years in federal prison.
Jose De Jesus Anguiano offered money, marijuana and alcohol to four minors between the ages of 13 and 17 as part of attempts to coerce them into engaging in sexual acts with him, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.
Prosecutors said Anguiano "repeatedly solicited minors for sex" between April 2022 and August 2024, including a 14-year-old girl he raped after agreeing to give her marijuana.
However, on Aug. 29, 2024, Anguiano agreed to meet with a minor for sex, but instead the minor's trafficker held Anguiano up at gunpoint and tried to carjack him.
Anguiano called 911 afterward and responding San Diego police officers "quickly put together the facts and called in the San Diego Human Trafficking Task Force," the U.S. Attorney's Office said.
Anguiano pleaded guilty earlier this year to coercion and enticement of a minor.
