SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – The San Diego Humane Society is holding its annual Day of Giving event on Thursday to raise money that will help the organization continue to care for thousands of animals at its campuses.

As part of the Day of Giving, owners can have their pets microchipped for free and those looking to adopt a pet will have adoption fees waived.

The Humane Society is hoping to raise $500,000 in donations, and SDHS officials said all donations will be matched.

Additionally, the three Humane Society campuses in San Diego County will have special Day of Giving-related events and activities.

The campus locations:
-- San Diego (5500 Gaines St.)
-- Escondido (3500 Burnet Dr.)
-- Oceanside (2905 San Luis Rey Rd. for dogs; 572 Airport Rd. for cats and small animals)
