SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Dingy bathrooms dating back to the 1930s and 1950s are a blight in Balboa Park, according to San Diego City Councilman Chris Ward.
Ward, who represents District 3, which includes the park, and other Balboa Park stakeholders held a press conference urging Mayor Kevin Faulconer to include upgrades in the city's fiscal year 2020 budget.
Roughly $9.5 is earmarked currently for the Plaza de Panama project, which has been scrapped. But Ward says he will urge Faulconer to keep the line item in the budget and designate the money instead for necessary upgrades to the bathrooms and to the roofs of several of the park's museums, which he says are in need of replacing.
Faulconer will present his May revised budget to the council next week.
