SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – The San Diego City Council is considering implementing a nightly curfew as a way to keep parks around the city safe.
At a Monday afternoon meeting, the council is expected to discuss an ordinance that would have curfews installed at the following city parks:
-- Cedar Ridge Mini Park
-- City Heights Square Mini Park
-- Montclair Neighborhood Park
-- North Park Community Park
-- North Park Mini Park
Many residents who live near the parks said they are in favor of a 9 p.m.-5 a.m. curfew because they feel unsafe any time they visit or walk near the parks, especially at night.
Some have even called on the city to close and lock gates at the park during the curfew time.
In the past month, CrimeMapping.com data shows there have been 68 police reports near North Park Community Park, including vehicle break-ins, burglary and assault.
