SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- U.S. Navy sources report that slightly more than a dozen sailors assigned to USS Lake Champlain have tested positive for COVID-19.
"Individuals who were in close contact with those Sailors are also off the ship and are in quarantine while they monitor for any symptoms," Cmdr. Nicole Schwegman said in a statement.
A Navy Surface Forces Pacific spokeswoman confirmed the ship arrived in San Diego Friday on routine operation.
No sailors from the crew have been hospitalized and all positives are in isolation at their homes in accordance with the U.S. Pacific Fleet Guidelines.
"Force health protection for our Sailors is a top priority", said Cmdr. Nicole Schwegman.
