CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) - A South Bay driver hoping to get insurance information after an accident, got knocked out instead.
On Saturday around 6 p.m. on Olympic Parkway, Sam was headed west and stopped at the light at Heritage Road. When it turned green, he says a blue Ford Mustang switched into his lane and cut him off.
"I laid on the horn for no more than three seconds," said Sam, who asked us not to use his full name.
Sam says the driver slowed down and ended up at his side.
"He rolled down the window, cursing at me and flipping me off. He waved to me to and motioned to stop. I didn't," said Sam.
Moments later, that driver was behind him.
"I looked in the rear-view mirror, and he's looking at his girlfriend in the passenger seat. Then he rear-ends me," said Sam.
Both Sam and the other driver - a tall, heavyset man in his late 20s with long, dark hair - pulled over. In the back of Sam's mind, there was a tiny bit of hesitation, but Sam got out to exchange insurance information.
"He's walking calmly. I'm walking calmly. Next thing I know, he's like ,'Screw this,' and out of nowhere, he swung really quickly," said Sam.
Sam says the man hit his jaw, then shoved him into the bushes. Sam hit his head and fell unconscious. When he came to, Sam saw him vandalizing his car.
"He's hopping on the car, bashing everything," said Sam.
Sam saw the man destroy his driver side mirror, then stomp through his back windshield. The man ran off, as the woman drove off. Sam suffered busted lips and a concussion.
"Still scarred, still shaking. Very scary," said Sam.
Days later, he's hoping someone will help identify the driver.
"He needs to be brought to justice so this is not tolerated," said Sam.
Sam says in all, the damage to his car is about $1,500. Anyone with information is asked to call Chula Vista Police at 619-422-TIPS.
