SPRING VALLEY, Calif. (KGTV) - Four ponies that wandered away from a Spring Valley home early Friday morning made their way into the middle of a street and blocked traffic before being safely corralled.

Just after 4 a.m., the California Highway Patrol received reports of young horses walking in front of vehicles and holding up traffic on Bancroft Avenue, near Avocado Street.

10News learned four ponies somehow escaped their enclosure after a gate was either knocked over or inadvertently left open.

With CHP officers at the scene, several people who are friends of the horses’ owner lassoed the string of ponies and walked them safely back to their home.
