ESCONDIDO, Calif. (KGTV) -- Police are searching for a suspect believed to have robbed several banks throughout Southern California.

According to the Newport Beach Police Department, the same suspect may be linked to bank robberies in Oceanside and Newport Beach as well as an attempted robbery in Escondido.

The most recent robbery happened on February 8 around 10:15 a.m. at a Citibank on the 1100 block of Newport Center Drive.

Police say the suspect entered the bank carrying a reusable Target bag and handed the teller a note claiming he had a bomb and verbally demanding cash.

“At this time, it is believed that this is the same suspect that was involved in the Chase Bank robbery in Oceanside, CA and the attempted Wells Fargo Bank robbery in Escondido, CA on February 5, 2019,” police said.

The suspect is described as using a demand note and having the same identifying description, although police did not provide that information.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Jason Prince at 949-644-3762.
