VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) -- Multiple lanes on state Route 78 in the Vista area were shut down during the Friday morning commute after a box truck overturned on the roadway.
The crash happened shortly after 5 a.m. on the eastbound side of SR-78 near Mar Vista Drive, according to the California Highway Patrol.
While it was unclear what caused the box truck to overturn, the vehicle blocked at least two lanes on the typically busy freeway.
Authorities shut down all eastbound lanes and diverted traffic at Mar Vista Drive as a tow truck crew worked to move the box truck out of the road.
By 6 a.m., authorities opened one lane to allow for traffic.
The closure was expected to last for at least two hours.
