SANTEE, Calif. (KGTV) - A driver was arrested Tuesday in connection with a hit-and-run crash in Santee that sent a pedestrian to the hospital with serious injuries.

The incident was reported shortly after 5 a.m. at Magnolia Avenue and Riverview Parkway, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.

Sheriff’s officials said a 32-year-old man was in a car with his brother and a friend when an argument ensued. According to sheriff’s officials, the 32-year-old man jumped out of the vehicle near Chub Lane.

As he walked south in the traffic lanes on N. Magnolia Avenue, his brother and the friend tried to get him to return inside the car.

However, moments later, the man was hit by another vehicle traveling north on N. Magnolia Avenue. The vehicle fled the scene after the collision.

The victim was rushed to the hospital with major head injuries and was listed in serious condition at Sharp Memorial Hospital.

The driver, who was not identified, returned to the scene a short time after the crash, but arrived in a different vehicle, 10News learned.
