SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police are investigating a shooting in the Mount Hope area that left one person dead Sunday.
The incident occurred at around 2:45 p.m. in the 800 block of Raven Street, according to San Diego police.
Police said they found the victim, a 54-year-old man, lying in an alleyway with at least one gunshot wound to the torso.
The victim was taken to the hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Witnesses told police an unknown man and two vehicles were seen leaving the area at the time of the shooting. The man was described as black and in his 20s, wearing a dark cap, long-sleeve white sweatshirt and dark sweat pants. This person was identified as “a person of interest only at this time,” police said.
One vehicle that left the scene was described as a white 1990s Honda Accord, with the other vehicle described as a black 2006-2010 Chrysler 300.
SDPD’s Homicide Unit is handling the investigation.
