OCEANSIDE, Calif. (KGTV) -- Two people were arrested after a standoff in an RV in front of an Oceanside grocery store Wednesday.
Oceanside police told 10News that Carlsbad police spotted an RV that was reported stolen earlier in the week. Officers found the RV parked at the Albertsons at 3450 Marron Rd. at around 6:30 p.m.
Officers spotted movement inside the vehicle, and they used a bullhorn to order the occupants to come out.
When they refused orders to exit the RV, police called on a helicopter and an armored BearCat vehicle to the scene to assist as officers prepared to enter the motorhome.
“We gave them ample opportunity to surrender, and they didn’t give up,” Oceanside police Sgt. Jeff Brandt said.
After firing pepper balls into the RV, officers and a K-9 entered the vehicle.
Brandt said a man and woman inside the RV were taken into custody. 10News learned the woman was bitten on the shoulder by the K-9 during the arrest.
Police said officers didn’t find drugs, weapons or anything illegal inside the stolen motorhome.
The two arrestees in the standoff that lasted more than an hour were not identified.
