CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) – A project to replace an old bridge over the Sweetwater River in Chula Vista has been completed.
The $16 million effort to replace the Willow Street bridge took two years to complete, and the new version is bigger (83 feet wide), longer (620 feet long) and has new features (sidewalks and bicycle lanes on both sides).
Officials said about 15,000 vehicles travel on the bridge every day.
The original Willow Street bridge was built in 1940.
