SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Authorities are searching for a motorcyclist who led a high-speed chase from the North County but eventually got away on foot in Mira Mesa.

At around 1:15 a.m. Thursday, California Highway Patrol officers tried to pull over a motorcyclist for speeding in the San Marcos area, but the rider sped away onto eastbound state Route 78.

The motorcyclist transitioned to southbound Interstate 15, reaching speeds of over 130 mph and pulling away from pursuing officers.

After exiting at Mira Mesa Boulevard, the rider sped onto Westview Parkway, and then into a condominium complex off Mira Lee Way.

A police helicopter was hovering above as the motorcyclist ditched the bike and fled into the condo complex.

Officers on the ground were unable to find him after searching the complex.

10News learned the motorcycle was reported stolen out of Fallbrook.
