VALLEY CENTER (CNS) - A motorcyclist was killed in a crash at a Valley Center intersection that left three people, including a 3-year-old girl, with non-life-threatening injuries, authorities said today.

The crash happened around 4:10 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of Valley Center and Mirar De Valle roads, California Highway Patrol Officer Kevin Smale said.

A 30-year-old man was riding a 2007 Honda motorcycle southbound on Valley Center Road while a 39-year-old man was behind the wheel of a 2017 Nissan Altima heading east on Mirar De Valle Road, Smale said. The Nissan driver stopped at the intersection, then made a left turn onto Valley Center Road, the officer said.

As the Nissan driver was completing the turn, the motorcyclist struck the left rear bumper of the Nissan and was ejected from his two-wheeler, Smale said.

The Honda rider was taken to Palomar Medical Center in Escondido, where he was later pronounced dead, Smale said, adding that the victim's name was withheld pending family notification.

The Nissan driver and his two passengers, a 42-year-old woman and a 3- year-old girl, were taken to Rady Children's Hospital for treatment of their injuries, which were not believed to be life-threatening, Smale said.
