SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A Marine veteran spotted a driver trapped in his car after a crash off state Route 52 iand assisted in the rescue effort late Sunday evening.
Veteran Arizona Stone was driving in the Miramar area at around 10:20 p.m. when something off the westbound side of SR-52 near Interstate 805 caught his attention. Stone pulled over and saw that a red Toyota Prius had rolled down an embankment.
Stone said he approached the wreckage and saw that the driver was still stranded inside.
After calling 911, Stone calmly spoke to the driver while they waited for emergency crews to arrive.
Initially, crews did not see the crash and were clearing the call, but the 10News Breaking News Tracker called 911 to report the exact location of the crash.
Responding emergency crews cut the driver out from the wreckage through the windshield and took him to the hospital to be evaluated.
There is no word on what caused the driver to crash down the embankment.
