NATIONAL CITY, Calif. (KGTV) -- A man and a woman entered a gas station in National City early Tuesday morning to report being shot, police said.

According to National City police, officers were called to the Shell gas station at 3230 National City Blvd. just before 3 a.m. in response to a report of two people suffering from gunshot wounds.

Responding officers arrived to find a man and a woman with gunshot wounds in the parking lot of the gas station. The pair apparently asked a station attendant to contact police.

The man and woman were taken to the hospital with injuries of unknown severity, but 10News learned they did not immediately give officers any information on the shooting.

Police believe the two people were shot somewhere else, but that location has not been determined.

A stolen Honda Accord parked next to a gas pump was impounded, but it is uncertain if it is related to the shooting.
