SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Authorities today publicly identified a young man who was shot last weekend during a fight at a Logan Heights house party and whose killer remains at large.

Patrol officers responding to reports of gunfire a few blocks from Chicano Park shortly before 1 a.m. Saturday found Lamonte Stevenson, 19, mortally wounded at a home in the 2700 block of Marcy Avenue, according to San Diego police.

Medics took Stevenson to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Detectives have determined that the victim was attending a social gathering at the house when he got into an argument with another man, Lt. Martha Sainz said.

The quarrel escalated, and the unidentified killer pulled and gun and shot Stevenson several times in the upper body before fleeing.

"Detectives will continue with their investigation to determine the identity of the suspect,'' the lieutenant said.
