SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A 27-year-old man died after being shot while walking in the East Village late Monday evening.
Dispatchers received reports shortly before 10:40 p.m. of a shooting in the 400 block of 17th Street, just west of Interstate 5, according to San Diego police.
Police said Julius Davis was walking on 17th Street when a man wearing dark clothing came up to him and fired several shots. The suspected gunman fled the scene in a dark-colored vehicle that was last seen heading southbound on 17th Street.
Davis was taken to a hospital for treatment after being shot in his upper body. He was pronounced dead at about 7 a.m., according to police.
A detailed description of the suspected gunman and vehicle were not immediately available.
Detectives with the San Diego Police Department's homicide unit are investigating the shooting.
