SAN MARCOS (CNS) - An 81-year-old man in a motorized wheelchair was killed when he was struck by a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck, authorities said.
It happened at 1:53 p.m. Saturday at Pico Avenue and West San Marcos Boulevard, San Diego County sheriff's Deputy Yvan Rogers said.
The 39-year-old woman driving the pickup truck made a left turn from a gas station onto Pico Avenue when she struck the man who was crossing Pico Avenue midblock, Rogers said.
The man was taken to Palomar Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, the deputy said.
"Alcohol or drugs is not believed to be a factor in the collision,'' Rogers said. The crash was under investigation, he said.
