Man killed in Mountain View shooting

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- At least one person is dead following a shooting in the Mountain View neighborhood early Thursday morning.

San Diego police received a call around 8:40 a.m. reporting a person down at 45th Street and Keeler Avenue. When officers arrived, they found a good Samaritan performing CPR on a man on the side of the road.

Police say the victim was suffering from apparent gunshot wounds to his upper body.

The man was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Officer Darius Jamsetjee said.

Homicide Detectives are in the early stages of the investigation, and little is known about the circumstances surrounding the man’s death. Detectives are collecting evidence and attempting to locate witnesses.

The male has been identified; however, his name is not being released at this time. He is described as a 56-year-old Black male.
