ESCONDIDO, Calif. (KGTV) - A man was taken to the hospital after being shot following a Fourth of July fireworks show in Escondido.
The incident was reported at around 9:38 p.m. Thursday at Hickory Street and Third Avenue, Escondido police said.
According to police, a man and his girlfriend were walking back to their car after watching the show when the man was shot in his abdomen.
The 30-year-old victim told police he did not know where the bullet came from.
Police said the victim’s girlfriend was attempting to drive him to the hospital, but they became stuck in traffic and had to flag down an officer for help.
10News learned the man was transported to Palomar Hospital and is in critical condition with injuries believed to be life-threatening.
A description of the suspected shooter was not immediately available.
