EL CAJON, Calif. (KGTV) – A man died from his injuries stemming from an incident in El Cajon in which police said he was attacked by someone armed with a stick.
At around 2:15 a.m. Wednesday, a California Highway Patrol officer was traveling in the 300 block of 2nd Street when he spotted a man lying on the southbound lanes with head injuries.
Responding El Cajon police officers arrived and arrested Gary Radford, 29, just a few feet from where the injured man was located.
Witnesses told police they heard the victim and the suspected attacker arguing, and as confrontation escalated, one man picked up a stick and struck the other with it.
10News learned the unidentified victim passed away from his injuries at the hospital.
Police are investigating the circumstances that sparked the argument, including whether the men knew each other.
